CPS & Crown Court Interpreting

Court-grade Arabic-English interpretation for witnesses and defendants. Available across Birmingham Crown Court and the Midland Circuit.

Court interpretation at the required standard

Court interpretation is an exercise in fidelity and stamina. Hearings can run for hours; cross-examination demands accurate rendering of nuance under pressure; sentencing remarks must be conveyed precisely. I work to NRPSI professional standards and am instructed regularly across Birmingham Crown Court and the Midland circuit.

Mode of interpretation

For witness evidence and defendant interpretation, I work primarily in consecutive mode for question-and-answer sequences and simultaneous (chuchotage / whispered) mode for advocate speeches and judicial summing-up. I am comfortable with either mode at speed and over extended sittings.

Where I'm instructed

  • Birmingham Crown Court (Newton Street, Priory Courts)
  • Wolverhampton, Stafford, Warwick, Worcester Crown Courts
  • Birmingham, Walsall, Solihull, Coventry Magistrates' Courts
  • First-tier and Upper Tribunal (Birmingham Sheldon Court)

For instructing solicitors and CPS

I provide a copy of my NRPSI registration confirmation, CTC clearance certificate, DBS certificate, and PI insurance schedule on request โ€” useful when adding me to your panel or registering me on your interpreter database for the first time.

Court attendance practicalities

I aim to be in the court building 15 minutes before listing time, robed appropriately for the court I'm attending. For multi-day hearings I will coordinate continuity with the court clerk and counsel. Refreshment breaks during long hearings are appreciated โ€” interpreter fatigue is the most common cause of accuracy degradation in long sittings.
