For instructing solicitors & chambers

Instruct one named interpreter — no agency, no margin.

A direct instruction model for immigration, criminal defence, family and mental-health solicitors handling Arabic-language matters. One NRPSI-registered, CTC-cleared interpreter accountable for every hearing, conference and review on the file.

What direct instruction gives you

Five things an agency cannot.

Each of these is a defect in the standard agency model. The direct-instruction model is built to remove them.

استمرارية

Continuity across the file

The same named interpreter for every hearing, conference and review — so the case is built on familiarity, not a fresh briefing each time.

تحضير

Pre-reading the bundle

Specialist vocabulary prepared in advance. Dialect risks flagged before the hearing. The link drops and we are ready.

شفافية

Transparent rates

Direct rates, no agency margin. Travel not charged on remote work. Invoicing structured for legal aid recovery.

سرعة

Same working-day response

Booking requests answered within working hours. Same-day police-station and custody work accommodated via WhatsApp.

مساءلة

One accountable person

NRPSI registration is public. The interpreter is named on the attendance note. There is no diffusion of responsibility.

CRM7

Attendance notes for legal aid

CRM7 and CRM8 attendance notes provided as standard so the file is ready for assessment without chasing.

Side by side

Three places where direct instruction matters most

The cases where the right interpreter is the case.

A summary of where the practice's specialist value sits — and where solicitors instruct directly because the agency model has failed them previously.

يمني

Yemeni-dialect Crown Court matters.

The UK interpreter pool for Yemeni Arabic is small. Misassigning a Levantine or Egyptian interpreter to a Taizzi or San'ani speaker produces interpretation that sounds fluent but loses register, idiom, and frequently the actual meaning of testimony.

Where the dialect is the witness
لجوء

Sudanese asylum credibility.

Regional Sudanese — Khartoum, Darfur, eastern Sudan — has distinct lexical markers that a careful ear recognises. In substantive interviews and tribunals, these markers can support or contradict a stated country of origin.

Where the dialect is the evidence
تأهب

Mental Health Tribunal vocabulary.

Clinical terms — delusion, insight, capacity, section — vary across dialects and registers. A prepared interpreter renders them with the precision a tribunal expects; an unprepared one slows the hearing.

Where preparation is the safeguard
Rates for direct instruction

Transparent and dialect-aware.

Aligned with the NRPSI floor for the dialect tier. Specialist Yemeni and Sudenese rates reflect the smaller UK interpreter pool and the dialect-specific preparation each case demands.

Practical questions answered

How do I instruct without an agency framework?
Send a booking request via the contact form, email or WhatsApp with the matter type, dialect, date and platform (Teams/Zoom/CVP/in-person). A reply confirming availability, conflict check and quote arrives the same working day.
Do you accept legal aid rates?
Yes. Legal aid scale rates are honoured for both criminal (CRM7/CRM8) and civil legal aid matters. Invoices are formatted for assessment.
What attendance documentation is included?
CRM7 / CRM8 attendance notes for legal aid matters. Standard attendance certificates for private and Home Office work. Both provided as standard, not on request.
Can the same interpreter cover the full case?
Yes — that is the model. One named interpreter across hearings, conferences, prep meetings and reviews. Familiarity reduces hearing time and the risk of inconsistent rendering of key terms.
What if the dialect turns out to be different than expected?
If at the booking stage the dialect appears to fall outside coverage (Libyan, for instance) you will be told before instruction is accepted, with a recommendation if available. Misassignment risk is highest on the first booking — happy to do a free 15-minute dialect check first.
Is professional indemnity in place?
Yes — £1 million PI cover via Markel UK, chamber-standard for direct instruction.
Can you handle Schedule 7 or terrorism-related work?
Yes — Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) cleared to September 2030, alongside Enhanced DBS.
Do you offer a retainer arrangement?
Yes. For firms with regular Arabic-language casework, a monthly retainer from £1,200 covers priority booking, on-call review, bespoke glossaries and quarterly check-ins. Read the consulting brief →
